Brother James Luke (John Hurley) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1931 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 31, 1982, at the age of 73 in Romeoville, Illinois, and is buried in Worth, Illinois, in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

Br. Felix Basilio

Brother Felix Basilio (Alberto Guillen) was born in Ecuador and entered the Novitiate in 1912 in Quito, Ecuador. He died on December 31, 1975, in Leon, Nicaragua, and is buried in Leon, Nicaragua

Br. Celerinus Andrew

Brother Celerinus Andrew (Andrew Rappeaux) was born in Florissant, Missouri, and entered the Novitiate in 1868 Carondelet, Missouri. He died on December 31, 1923, in Washington, D.C., at the age of 75 and is buried in Ammendale, Maryland.

Br. Cadoc

Brother Cadoc (Antoine Friesch) was born in Prussia and entered the Novitiate in 1852 in Montreal, Canada. He died on December 31, 1909, in Ammendale, Maryland, at the age of 70 and is buried in Ammendale.

Br. Lawrence Philip

Brother Lawrence Philip (Thomas J. Morgan) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Juniorate in 1934 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 30, 2002, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 83 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Memphis.

Br. Leonorian Maurice

Brother Leonorian Maurice (John Vincent Anglim) was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and entered the Novitiate in 1942 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 29, 2009, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 85 and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois. He was Visitor of the Chicago District from 1966 to 1972.

Br. Patrick Jonathan

Brother Patrick Jonathan (Owen Meegan) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Juniorate in 1958 and the Novitiate in 1959 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 29, 2007, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 65 and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.

Brother Lewis Daniel (John Brown) was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, and entered the Novitiate in 1927 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 29, 1977, in Joliet, Illinois, at the age of 67 and is buried in Evanston, Illinois, in Calvary Cemetery.

Br. Joel Nicholas

Brother Joel Nicholas (Norman George Geimer) was born on February 25, 1928, in Evanston, Illinois, and entered the Juniorate in Glencoe, Missouri, in January 1946 after attending St George High School for three and a half years. After the Novitiate year he professed first vows in 1947. He made his final professional at Beaver Island, MI, in 1960. He died at the age of 89 on December 28, 2017, in Chicago, Illinois and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, Illinois.

Br. Honorius Edward

Brother Honorius Edward (James Duffy) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1923 Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 28, 1995, in Naperville, Illinois, at the age of 90 and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.

Br. Leonorus Daniel

Brother Leonorus Daniel (James Carrigan) was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and entered the Novitiate in 1945 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 28, 1984, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 54 and is buried in Glencoe.

Br. Hugh Nicholas

Brother Hugh Nicholas (James Michael Schumer) was born in Evanston, Illinois, the son of Michael N. and Mary E. (Heppner) Schumer. He entered the Novitiate in 1951 at Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 27, 2015, In Chicago, Illinois and is buried in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Br. Gary Eugene Smith

Brother Gary (Gary Eugene Smith) was born in Union City, Pennsylvania and entered the Brothers of St. Pius X in 1965 and transferred to the Christian Brothers in 1979. He died on December 24, 2011, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin at age sixty-seven and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.

Br. Luke Azarias

Brother Luke Azarias (William Herbert) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and entered the Novitiate in 1930 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 24, 1978, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 68 and is buried in Winona, Minnesota, at St. Mary Cemetery.

Brother Herman Basil (Joseph Wunderlich) was born in Winona, Minnesota, and entered the Novitiate in 1921 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 24, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 71 and is buried in Evanston, Illinois, in Calvary Cemetery.

Brother Athanasius of Sebaste (Richard Carroll) was born in Ireland and entered the Novitiate in 1873 in Carondelet, Missouri. He died on December 19, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 73 and is buried in Glencoe, Missouri.

Brother Candidian (John Howard) was born in Ireland and entered the Novitiate in 1854 in Montreal, Canada. He died on December 19, 1910, in Ammendale, Maryland, at the age of 72 and is buried in Ammendale.

Br. James William Clarey

Brother Bill Clarey (James William Clarey) was born in Breckenridge, Minnesota in 1939 and entered the Novitiate in 1959 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 18, 2023, at Catholic Eldercare in Minneapolis, MN at the age of 84 and the interment of his cremains took place at Resurrection Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Brother Hugh Martin (Arthur Stephen Bertling) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1931 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 18, 1997, in Romeoville, Illinois, at the age of 85 and is buried Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.

Brother Julius Raymond (Thomas Long) was born in Illinois and entered the Novitiate in 1936 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 18, 1986, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 65 and is buried Mount Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.

Brother Aubertine of Jesus (Aloysius Steckley) was born in Alsace and entered the Novitiate in 1872 in Carondelet, Missouri. He died on December 17, 1928, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 74 and is buried in Memphis in Calvary Cemetery.

Brother Justin Regis (James Ridgeway) was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, and entered the Juniorate in 1934. He died on December 15, 1994, in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the age of 74 and is buried in Minnesota

Br. Charles Henry

Thomas Joseph Buttimer was born on June 22, 1909, in Brighton, Massachusetts, and entered the Novitiate of the Brothers at Pocantico Hills, New York, on September 7, 1926. There he received the robe and the religious name of Brother Charles Henry. He eventually was appointed Director of Scholastics for the New York District. He later became the founding Visitor of the Long Island - New England District and was appointed Assistant to the Superior General in 1961. In 1966 he was elected Superior General, and the Institute installed the first non-Frenchman to lead the congregation. He served from 1966 to 1976 when he returned to Narragansett, Rhode Island, to retire. He died there at age seventy-three, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for fifty-six years. The summer institute which studies the life and spirituality of De La Salle is named in Brother Charles' memory and is called the Buttimer Institute. He died on December 15, 1982, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for fifty-six years.

Br. Joel Paulian

Brother Joel Paulian (James Jeremiah Dolan) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 12, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 89 and is buried in Romeoville, Illinois, at Resurrection Cemetery.

Br. Jude Aloysius

Brother Jude Aloysius (James Cantwell) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1936 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 11, 1986, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 68 and is buried in Romeoville, Illinois, at Resurrection Cemetery.

Venerable Br. Gregorio Buhl

Brother Gregorio Buhl was born in Germany. He died in Torre del Greco at age 77. His cause for canonization has been sent to the Sacred Congregation. "Brother Gregorio came to Italy at the age of 17 from Villingendorf, Germany, where he was born on 13 September 1896. After his novitiate he expressed the wish to go on the missions, but God disposed otherwise and in August of 1923 he was assigned to the novitiate community where he remained for 50 years as Sub-Director. His intense spiritual life found its nourishment in prayer, the Eucharist and filial love for the Most Blessed Virgin. He died a saintly death in Torre del Greco on 11 December 1973. The Cardinal Archbishop of Naples has asked the Sacred Congregation to open the information process." He was seventy-seven years old at the time of his death, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for sixty years. He has been declared Venerable by the Vatican and thus named “Servant of God.”

Br. Liberius Stanislaus

Brother Liberius Stanislaus (Wenceslaus Ruzicka) was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and entered the Novitiate in 1913 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 11, 1918, in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the age of 21 and is buried in St. Joseph at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Br. Linus Paul

Brother Linus Paul (Douglas Andrew French) and entered the Christian Brothers Novitiate at Glencoe, Missouri where he received the religious habit and professed his first vows. He died on December 10, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 83 and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.

Brother Justin Malachy (Edward McMahon) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 9, 1902, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the age of 23 and is buried in Santa Fe in Rosario Cemetery

Brother John of Sebaste (Joseph Cummins) was born in Ireland and entered the Novitiate in 1867 in Pass Christian, Mississippi. He died on December 8, 1903, in Glencoe, Missouri, at the age of 73 and is buried in Glencoe

Br. Leander Joseph

Brother Leander Joseph (Daniel Keating) was born in England and entered the Novitiate in 1867 in New York City (Second Street). He died on December 8, 1871, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 29 and is buried in Evanston, Illinois, in Calvary Cemetery.

Br. Ignatius Francis

Brother Ignatius Francis (John McEvoy) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1914 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 7, 1971, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 72 and is buried in Glencoe.

Br. Brithweld

Brother Brithweld (Matthias Frisch) was born in Germany and entered the Novitiate in 1852 in Montreal, Canada. He died on December 7, 1864, in Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 42 and is buried in Long Island City in Calvary Cemetery.

Vénérable Br. Juan Fromental Cayroche

Brother “Juanito” was born on June 27, 1895, in Chauvet Servieres, Lozere (France). His desire to be a missionary brought him to the Lasallian missionary centers of formation in Premia de Mar (Spain) and Lembecq-lez Hal (Belgium). In Premia de Mar he had the opportunity to meet Brother Miguel Febres Cordero, the future Saint Miguel. He lived the first years of his apostolic life in Cuba, at the school in Sancti Spiritus, Havana and Guines. On January 10, 1925, he arrived in Mexico City, the country which he considered as his second home. In the twenty-seven years he spent there, he first taught in the primary and commercial classes. But his most important creation is the founding of a new religious Congregation of Sisters (Hermanas Guadalupanas De La Salle), to whom he gave the Lasallian Rules and the spirit of faith and zeal, characteristic of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. The new Congregation received diocesan approval on September 12, 1962, and on April 10, 1976, papal approbation from His Holiness Paul VI. Brother Jean died on December 5, 1978, at the age of eighty-three and had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for over sixty years.

Br. Octavian Jean

Brother Octavian Jean (Jean Gidon) was born in Haute Loire, France, and entered the Novitiate in 1898 in La Saulsois, France. He died on December 5, 1971, in St. Paul, Minnesota, at the age of 90 and is buried in St. Paul at Calvary Cemetery

Brother Justinian Lewis (Vincent Heffernan) was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and entered the Novitiate in 1939 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 1965 at the age of 43 and is buried in Winona, Minnesota, at St. Mary Cemetery.

Br. Idonius Ambrose

Brother Idonius Ambrose (Thomas Robert Trusk) was born in Illinois and entered the Novitiate in 1930 at Glencoe, Missouri. He died at age 77 on December 4, 1998, in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is buried in Winona, Minnesota.

Br. Liguori Edward

Brother Liguori Edward (Alphonse Grote) was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1904 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 4, 1914, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, at the age of 27 and is buried in Santa Fe in Rosario Cemetery.

Br. Florence of Mary

Brother Florence of Mary (Michael Glynn) was born in Ireland and entered the Novitiate in 1872 in Carondelet, Missouri. He died on December 4, 1914, in Bernalillo, New Mexico, at the age of 71 and is buried in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in Rosario Cemetery.

Br. Frogeneus

Brother Frogeneus (Paul Brauch) was born in Prussia and entered the Novitiate in 1869 in Carondelet, Missouri. He died on December 4, 1905, in Ammendale, Maryland, at the age of 60 and is buried in Ammendale.

Br. Filberto

Brother Filberto (Francisco Rosano) was born in Italy and entered the Novitiate in 1850 in Turin. He died on December 4, 1904, in Cobreces, Spain, at the age of 72 and is buried in Cobreces.

Br. Luke

Brother Luke (Matthias Becker) was born in Prussia and entered the Novitiate in 1855 in Montreal. He died on December 4, 1890, in Glencoe, Missouri, at the age of 68 and is buried there in Calvary Cemetery.

Br. Emilian of Jesus

Brother Emilian of Jesus (Patrick Foley) was born in Canada and entered the Novitiate in 1854 in Montreal. He died on December 4, 1869, in Albany, New York, at the age of 34 and is buried in Glencoe, Missouri.

Br. Emmett Brian

Brother Emmett Brian (Michael Regis Flaherty) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1959 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 3, 2019, Chicago, Illinois at age in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 80 and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois

Br. Hermes Joseph

Brother Hermes Joseph (John Lynch) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1937 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 3, 1990, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 72 and is buried in Glencoe, Missouri.

Br. Robert of Mary

Louis Pace was born on December 2, 1907, in Egypt. He received his elementary education from the Irish Christian Brothers in Perth, Western Australia and then moved to Malta where he attended Stella Maris, a Christian Brothers School. He entered the Novitiate in 1926 and received the habit and religious name of Brother Robert of Mary in February of 1927. He taught in Rome and Naples, transferred to Jerusalem and Lebanon, came to La Salle College in Philadelphia, lived at Lockport, Illinois, and taught at De La Salle College in Washington, D.C. and St. Mary's College of California. He ended his days at Mont La Salle in Napa. He could teach in several languages, and his sociable temperament made him an ideal public relations man. He is memorialized in several books for his service in Rome during World War II as a Vatican radio announcer and secret helper to downed airmen hiding in Rome and surrounding areas. He served as District Secretary in the San Francisco District and was editor of the well known Lasallian Digest. He died of a stroke at age sixty-three, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for forty-four years.

Br. John Michael

Brother John Michael (Stephen J. Vukits) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1931 at Glencoe, Missouri. He died in Chicago at age 92 on December 2, 2000, and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.

Br. Jovinian Daniel

Brother Jovinian Daniel (George Patrick McEnery) was born in Evanston, Illinois, and entered the novitiate in 1943 at Glencoe, Missouri. He died in St. Louis at age 73 on December 2, 1998, and is buried in Glencoe, Missouri

Br. Hugh Bonaventure

Brother Hugh Bonaventure (Thomas Madine) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1933 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 2, 1977, in Lockport, Illinois, at the age of 62 and is buried in Evanston, Illinois, in Calvary Cemetery.

Brother Adelmian William (John Brown) died in 1866 in Galveston, Texas, at the age of 22 and is buried in Galveston.

Br. Leo Loda

Brother Leo Loda (Leo Robert Jones) was born in Waukon (Allamkee), Iowa, and entered the Novitiate in 1958 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 1, 2020, in Bolingbrook, Illinois, at the age of 80 and his cremated remains were interred at the family cemetery in Iowa

Brother Hugh Martin (James Smyth) was born in Ireland and entered the Novitiate in 1908 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on December 1, 1918, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 50 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Glencoe.

Br. Imilian Norbert

Brother Imilian Norbert (Timothy Carroll) was born in Oak Park, Illinois, and entered the Pre-Novitiate in 1943 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on November 30, 1994, in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, at the age of 69 and is buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.

Br. John Berchmans

Brother John Berchmans (William Walsh) was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and entered the Novitiate in 1904 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on November 30, 1960, in Glencoe at the age of 72 and is buried there in Calvary Cemetery.

Br. Gaudinus John

Br. Elzear Stephen

Brother Elzear Stephen (John Kelly) was born in Newfoundland, and entered the Novitiate in 1871 in Carondelet, Missouri. He died on November 28, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 79 and is buried in Glencoe, Missouri

Br. Anthimian

Brother Anthimian (Jean Damnon) was born in France and entered the Novitiate in 1852 in Caluire-lez-Lyon, France. He died on November 28, 1879, in Paris, France, at the age of 61 and is buried in Paris.

Br. Francis Raimond

Brother Raimond Rose died on November 27, 2015 at Big River Nursing Home in Cedar Hill, Missouri. He was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, the son of Charles and Willie Avery Rose. He graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas, and entered the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served until 1955.

Br. Cyril Pahl

Brother Cyril Pahl was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and entered the Novitiate in 1985. He died at age 91 on November 27, 2009 in Minneapolis and is buried there in Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.

Br. Josephus Hilary

Brother Josephus Hilary (Patrick McDonald) was born in South Dakota, and entered the Novitiate in 1942 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on November 27, 1982, in Villa Park, Illinois, and is buried in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, in Resurrection Cemetery.

Br. Hermes George

Brother Hermes George (Ronald Wagner) was born in Chicago, Illinois, and entered the Novitiate in 1951 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on November 27, 1981, in La Grange, Illinois, at the age of 48 and is buried in Evanston, Illinois, Calvary Cemetery.

Br. Albinus Peter

Brother Albinus Peter (Arthur Graves) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and entered the Novitiate in Pocantico Hills, New York. He died on November 27, 1968, in Manila, Philippines, at the age of 81 and is buried in Manila in La Loma Cemetery.

Br. Hugh Matthew

Brother Hugh Matthew (Bernard Patrick Smith) was born in Chicago, Illinois and entered the Novitiate in 1943 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on November 27, 2009, in Memphis, Tennessee, at age eighty-four and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Memphis.

Brother Lucistian (Thomas O'Neill) was born in Green Isle, Minnesota, and entered the Novitiate in 1888 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on November 27, 1891, in Glencoe, Missouri, at the age of 30 and is buried there in Calvary Cemetery.

Brother Abban Philip (Philip Gagnon) was born in Arichat, Nova Scotia, and entered the Novitiate in 1887 in Amawalk, New York. He died on November 26, 1950, in Barrytown, New York, at the age of 79 and is buried in New York in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. He was Visitor of Baltimore and later Visitor of New York. He was also appointed Assistant to the Superior General.

Brother Leonard Wilfrid (William Reid) was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and entered the Novitiate in 1928 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on November 26, 1977, in Westchester, Illinois, at the age of 69 and is buried in Evanston, Illinois, in Calvary Cemetery.

Brother Aurelian (James O'Connor) was born in Canada and entered the Novitiate in 1859 in Montreal. He died on November 25, 1922 in Troy, New York, at the age of 78 and is buried in New York in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Brother James (Alberto Javier Saiz de la Mora) was born in Cuba and entered the Novitiate there in 1949. He died on November 21, 2006, in Roseville, Minnesota, at the age of 75 and his remains were cremated.
