Br. David Schultz
Brother David Paul Schultz F.S.C. (Fratres Scholarum Christianarum), PHD, Born August 11,
1948, He retired from Gwynedd Mercy University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Age 70 where
he taught Theology and Medical Ethics and served on the board of Medical Ethics. He particularly
loved teaching medical ethics to his nursing students. He had the ability to translate the
complexities of theology into simple truths about love, forgiveness, and the power of faith.
After retiring he received a special dispensation from the Christian Brothers to return home and
to help care for his mentally challenged brother. David died at his home in Ft. Thomas of natural
causes at age 75.
He trusted in God's plan and enjoyed a lifelong commitment to his calling after beginning to serve
others at an early age. He entered the Christian Brother order after high school at Newport
Catholic where his Christian Brother teachers inspired him. During his education he received a
P.H.D. degree in Theology and always smiled when someone addressed him as Dr. Schultz.
He found joy in simple things- a shared meal, daily walks, a good book, spending time with family
and friends, yearly fishing trips and of course his beloved cat.
David loved flying. He followed in his father's and his uncle's footsteps. He received his pilots
license and was a member of the National Pilots Association.
