Reading the Signs of Our Times

For 345 years, the Lasallian educational mission has responded to the needs of each generation with courage, creativity, and faith. St. John Baptist de La Salle was an innovator whose vision continues to guide our work today. Now, we are called once again to read the signs of our times and discern how our charism must respond to the world before us.

Why Now?

Our world is changing rapidly. Technology is reshaping how we connect. Young people are navigating unprecedented challenges. Our relationship with faith, community, and even our planet is being redefined. As Lasallians, we must ask ourselves:

  • How do we educate in an age of constant technological disruption?
  • How do we evangelize when many are turning away from religion—while others seek more traditional forms of practice?
  • What does it mean to make "the classroom our altar" in today's world?
  • How do we prepare young people for a future we cannot fully predict?

As a community that once wrote the book on educational practice, we have 345 years of wisdom to draw upon. But wisdom alone is not enough. We must come together—schools and universities, retreat centers and ministries, Brothers and Lasallian Partners—to forge a common vision for the future.

We have been charged by vocation to accompany those entrusted to our care into an uncertain future, opening possibilities through critical thinking, solid values, growth in faith, and lasting relationships that will sustain them no matter what lies ahead.

We have been charged by vocation to accompany those entrusted to our care into an uncertain future, opening possibilities through education, spiritual development, and lasting relationships that will sustain them no matter what lies ahead.
