Mission Statement

We are Lasallian ministers, called together and by association to serve and empower God’s people and one another through the educational mission of the Catholic Church.  We are men and women, young and old, Christian Brothers and colleagues exercising our shared ministry in faith and zeal.  Together we stand - open to the Spirit, rooted in the Gospel, enriched by our traditions, preferentially committed to the poor. Together we enthusiastically forge a common future as Christian educators.

Mission and Charism

Mission is a big word. For us, mission means how and why we educate students from kindergarten to advanced university degrees. We think of our mission as educating minds & touching hearts with the love of Christ and preparing those entrusted to our care for a viable life in the real world.

When you partner with us as educators, staff, administrators, associates,  donors, and volunteers, you become associated as part of the Lasallian mission worldwide.  We are people who are concerned for and have compassion for those our ministries serve, and your participation helps us to advance our critical mission. Please know that we are grateful.

The Lasallian Charism

Charism means gift. It is a gift that comes through the life of a single person or a group. It is the vitality that inspires and motivates. Charism energizes the life of the group and animates its work.

St. John Baptist de La Salle’s gift is the understanding that education is built upon relationships. The school is a community. Central to the community is the teacher's relationship with each young person and with all members of the educational community. The teacher is the face of God’s love and one who connects young people with Jesus. The teacher's task is complex and difficult and so can only be done in the community.

Together with our local educational team and through Association with the global Lasallian educational communities, stability becomes important. We do not veer from what we have been called to do. All of this is built on faith in God and becomes, for the teacher, a zealous passion for the well-being of those entrusted to his or her care. These concepts are central to who we are and have been for more than 340 years.
