Brother Nicholas Schumer, 82, died on December 27, 205 at Resurrection Life Center in Chicago. A De La Salle Christian Brother for 64 years, he was born in Evanston son of Michael N. and Mary E. (Heppner) Schumer. He graduated from St. George H.S., entered the novitiate of the Brothers in Glencoe, MO, in 1951, and professed his final vows in 1958 in Winona, MN. He earned a BA degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a BA and an MA from Loyola University Chicago. During his years as a Christian Brother he served as bursar at La Salle Institute in Glencoe and taught at St. Joseph H.S. in Westchester and at St. Patrick H.S. in Chicago. Brother Nicholas served at Christian Brothers Conference both in Romeoville, IL, and in Landover, MD and was the Director of the St. De La Salle Auxiliary from 1993 to 2011. He was Director of the Christian Brothers community at C.B. Center in Romeoville from 1995 to 2001. Recently he lived at Resurrection Life Center in Chicago.
