Br. Ignatius Brown

We remember and pray for our Brother Ignatius (Robert) Brown, FSC, age 90. Brother Ignatius died on July 4, 2022 at Methodist Memorial in Memphis, Tennessee.  A De La Salle Christian Brother for 72 years, he was born Robert Ignatius Brown on April 4, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Nash J. Brown and Mary Helen (Miller) Brown.

He entered the novitiate of the Christian Brothers in 1950 in Glencoe, MO, pronounced his first vows the next year and his final vows in 1956 in Winona, MN.  He earned a B.S. degree from St. Mary’s College in Winona, MN, in 1954 and he earned his M. Ed. degree in 1960from St. Mary’s College in Winona, MN.  He earned his Ph.D. degree in 1979 from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.
