Christopher Ray Baker was born on September 22, 1953, the son of Ray and Marguerite (Scarbrough) Baker in Memphis, Tennessee where he attended Memphis Catholic High School prior to his entrance to the Novitiate. Chris received his B.S. from Christian Brothers College in Memphis and his M.Ed. from the University of Memphis. His teaching career took him to Roncalli High School in Omaha, Nebraska in 1977 prior to his Novitiate year in Windsor, Ontario in 1979. He was assigned to O’Hara High School in Kansas City, Missouri from 1980 to 1983 and to St. Mary High School in Paducah in 1983 returning to Roncalli High School in Omaha for the 1984-85 academic year. The following year he was assigned to Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he spent the next ten years. He was transferred to Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1996 and remained there until 2004 when he returned to his beloved Kelley High School in Tulsa. He remained teaching there for eleven years until 2016 when he entered Methodist Manor in Tulsa where he died. At the time of his early death he had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for thirty-seven years.
