Br. Jarlath Peter
George Seiler was the second of four natural brothers, sons of Peter and C. Kiefer Seiler to enter the Saint Louis District. Other sons to enter were: Ambrose Seiler, who became Brother Louis de La Salle, Bertram Seiler, who became Brother Joel Adrian and Joseph Seiler, who became Brother Leo Wilfrid. George Seiler was born on September 10, 1912, attended St. Patrick's Academy under the teaching of the Brothers and decided to enter the Juniorate in 1926 and three years later (1929) began his Novitiate. He received the habit of the Brothers on August 30th, and the name of Brother Jarlath Peter. After graduation from the Superior Scholasticate in Chicago he was assigned to St. Mel High School in Chicago. One year later he was transferred to St. George High School in Evanston. In 1935 he went to Ottawa, Canada, as an exchange professor at De la Salle Academy, and returned to St. George High School a year later. In 1942 he was assigned to St. Patrick Academy in Chicago and transferred to Christian Brothers High School in St. Louis in 1944. In 1949 he returned to St. George High School in Evanston where he died in 1956. He was forty-four years old and had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for thirty years.
