Gerald Fleming was born on September 22, 1854, in Kildare, Leinster, Ireland, the son of Gerald and Mary Fitzpatrick Fleming.  Some records indicate he was born on February 19, 1849, but records agree that he entered the Novitiate at Carondelet on September 19, 1874, where he eventually received the habit of the Brothers and the religious name of Brother Justinian Gabriel.  In October of 1875 he "left for Bridgeport, Chicago" where he was assigned until 1875 when he was transferred to St. John's School in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Other assignments are lost to us but we do know he served from 1897 to 1899 at St. Joseph's Commercial Academy in New Orleans.  He died in 1910 in Glencoe, Missouri, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for thirty-six years.
