Br. Ignatius Cyril
John Tuffy was born on November 28, 1871, in Ireland, the son of Michael and Elizabeth McGann Tuffy. John entered the Novitiate at Glencoe, Missouri, on May 13, 1888, and received the habit of the Brothers and the religious name of Brother Ignatius Cyril. On June 3, 1889, he was assigned to St. Paul, Minnesota, to begin learning how to teach. He became ill and returned to the Glencoe infirmary where he died on July 18 at the age of nineteen, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for only two years.
