Isidore Bertuit entered the Novitiate in Paris in 1887 where he received the robe of the Brothers and the religious name of Brother Agnel Isidore. In 1907 he was sent to Mexico to become the first Director of Novices in Mexico. After the revolution there of 1914 he directed the Mexican novices in Cuba and Mexican scholastics at Pocantico Hills, New York. In 1921 Brother Isidore became the first Visitor of the newly formed Santa Fe-New Orleans District. After 1924 he spent the remainder of his life as Visitor General in Europe and the United States. In 1949 poor health obliged him to retire to the Motherhouse in Rome where he died. He had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for sixty-six years.
