Br. Joel Dolan
Brother Joel Dolan, FSC, 89, died on Saturday, December 12, at Mercy Circle in Chicago. A De La Salle Christian Brother for 70years, he was born James Jeremiah Dolan in Chicago, son of John and Helena (néeDarcy) Dolan. He graduated from St. Mel H.S. and then entered the novitiate of the Christian Brothers in Glencoe, MO. He professed his first vows in 1945 and his perpetual vows in 1951. Brother Joel earned a B.S.S. and an M.A. from St. Mary’s University in Winona, MN, a B.S.L.S. from St. Catherine College in St. Paul, MN, and an M.A.L.S. from Dominican University in River Forest, IL. During his years as an educator he served in schools in Chicago and Westchester, IL; Jefferson City and Kansas City, MO; and St. Louis Park, MN. For many years he was a librarian and archivist at Lewis University in Romeoville until he retired in2007. Recently he was living at Mercy Circle in Chicago.
