Brother Larry Humphrey is indeed a Kentucky Gentleman - an actual gentle man from Louisville. Larry, as we call him, has always been active and has kept himself busy with his educational ministry. From the time he was in college at Christian Brothers College in Memphis, TN he was an excellent student who not only took on a college load but practice taught at the same time. This meant doing his own personal study while he also prepared to teach his classes and correct student work. Post college he was assigned to Christian Brothers High School in Memphis where he did his practice teaching and had earned a reputation as an excellent teacher. Not only was Brother Lawrence Humphrey an excellent teacher but he was also an administrator as a principal and later president. During his term as President of Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, an entirely new school was built to take the place of the old campus. Larry oversaw the move from the suburb of Clayton, MO to the St. Louis suburb of Town and Country. Larry has served many of our schools with great energy, creativity, and has always been a source of joy. He is totally attentive to the needs of his faculty and staff. He gave that same attention to the Brothers while he served as Auxiliary Visitor and Councilor to the Visitor. His personal attention is demonstrated in the way he never forgets a birthday or holiday greeting. Larry has a laugh that is contagious and room shaking. It is a joy to hear it because it shapes the life of a group. He brings joy to any community, gathering or meeting. As Larry moves toward retirement age, he is serving in Singapore as President of St. Joseph International School. While we are happy to share Brother Larry with Singapore, we will welcome him back with open arms when the time comes.
