We call Brother Charles, Chuck. In Chuck we have a Nebraska boy from small town Elgin who has become a world traveler. Brother Charles Gregor spent years teaching in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kansas City, Missouri, St. Louis, Missouri, Memphis, Tennessee, and the Chicago area. Those experiences led him to Africa where he helped create and open a school in Nakuru, Kenya. That school has educated hundreds of young men and women who were not able to go to university. In Nakuru they were able to learn a set of skills that led them to a trade and even possibly enough education to finally get into university. The school also offered professional development to some well educated enrollees. From the time Chuck returned to the United States he has maintained his interest in the Brothers ministries in Africa and has led groups of adults to visit the schools and communities in which the schools a situated. He has been a bridge between Africa and the USA for many. Not only was Brother Charles Gregor an innovator in Africa but he has become an innovator at home as well. His work at Lewis University in Romeoville has encouraged innovation in the way we train future teachers. Moreover, he is heavily invested in the evolution of technology and follows the ways it can be used to improve education and the life of teachers. Chuck is something of a Renaissance man. He is an artist, a potter, graphic designer, and a chef. No matter what food there may be in a house, he is able to create something good to eat. He can create a work of art out of wire and candles. Brother Charles - our Chuck - puts care into everything - teaching, designing, cooking, creating - with astonishing results.
