In Memoriam of Our Brothers
We commemorate our departed AFSC community, comprised of individuals known for their exceptional service to the Lasallian mission. Together, we reflect on their lasting contributions.
Col. P. Ramee BFSC
Col. P. Ramee was granted Letters of Benefaction by the superior General, Brother Nicet Joseph, and his Council in Rome, on October 27, 1962. He was recommended for this honor by the Brothers of Kansas City, Missouri, for his generosity to De La Salle High School in Kansas City.
Hugh Downey AFSC
Brother Hugh Downey was recommended for admission by the Brothers of Kansas City, Missouri.
C. Linnenkamp AFSC
Brother Charles Copeland AFSC was recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of Chicago, Illinois, and Brother C. Linnenkamp was recommended by the Brothers of St. Louis, Missouri.
Charles Copeland AFSC
Charles Copeland was granted Diplomas of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother Gabriel Marie, and his Council in Rome, on November 1, 1903. Superior General, Brother Nicet Joseph, and his Council in Rome, on November 1, 1958.
John Lavecchia AFSC
Mr. John Lavecchia were recommended by the Brothers of Memphis, Tennessee, for entrance into the Institute through Diplomas of Affiliation. These Diplomas were granted by the Superior General, Brother John Johnston, on October 29, 2000. Brother John Lavecchia died of cancer on May 11, 2001.

Dr. Robert Kraus was recommended by the Brothers of Memphis, Tennessee, for entrance into the Institute through Diploma of Affiliation. The Diploma were granted by the Superior General, Brother John Johnston, on October 29, 2000.

William Taylor Cannale AFSC
“Billy” (William Taylor) Canale was granted a Diploma of Affiliation on August 9, 2009. He was recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of Memphis and the public ceremony of Affiliation took place on October 25, 2009 at Christian Brothers High School in Memphis.
Msgr. Edward Reilly AFSC
Msgr. Edward Reilly was granted a Diploma of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother John Johnston, and his Council in Rome on October 23, 1999. Edward Reilly were recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of St. Louis, Missouri.
James Jost AFSC
Mr. James Jost was granted a Diploma of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother John Johnston, and his Council in Rome on October 23, 1999. James Jost was recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of St. Louis, Missouri. James Jost died on March 20, 2016 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mr. Pete Baczenas was recommended for the granting of Letters of Benefaction by the St. Louis District on October 22, 1970. Brother Pete Baczenas died on May 9, 1978.
Matthew Niedhammer AFSC
Bishop Matthew Niedhammer was granted a Diploma of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother Denis, and his Council in Rome on October 23, 1954. He was recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of Bluefields, Nicaragua. Brother Matthew Niedhammer died on June 25, 1970.

Lowell I. Stahl AFSC
Lowell I. Stahl, Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of St. Patrick High School (Class of ’52) in Chicago, was granted Diploma of Affiliation from the Superior General on October 20, 2010. He was recommended by the Brothers of St. Patrick High School. The presentation ceremony took place on April 14, 2011.

Joseph G. Schmidt, Ed. D., Principal of St. Patrick High School in Chicago, was granted Diploma of Affiliation from the Superior General on October 20, 2010. He was recommended by the Brothers of St. Patrick High School. The presentation ceremony took place on April 14, 2011.
William Walsh AFSC
William Walsh was granted a Diploma of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother Jose Pablo, and his Council on October 19, 1976. William Walsh because of his long association as an attorney for Christian Brothers College in Memphis. William McGinniss Walsh died May 11, 2011 in Memphis.

William Coates AFSC
Msgr. William P. Coates was granted a Diploma of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother John Joseph Johnston, and his Council on October 17, 1986. William Coates was recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of Minneapolis, Minnesota, for his years forty years of association with the work of the Brothers through De La Salle High School in Minneapolis.

Fr. Robert Stamschror, recommended by the Brothers of Winona, was granted a Diploma of Affiliation by the Superior General on October 3, 2001. The ceremony presenting the letters of affiliation to Fr. Stamschror took place on February 5, 2002.

Irene Biesanz AFSC
Mrs. Irene Biesanz were granted Diplomas of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother John Joseph Johnston, and his Council in Rome on September 21, 1995. Brother Irene Biesanz were recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of Winona, Minnesota. It was from the Biesanz Stone Company that came the stone for several buildings on St. Mary's campus. Brother Irene died on July 15, 2001 in Winona, Minnesota.

Samuel J. Buron AFSC
Samuel J. Buron was granted a Diploma of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother Jose Pablo, and his Council in Rome, on September 21, 1976. Brother Samuel Buron was recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of St. Paul, Minnesota, for his association with the Brothers through Cretin High School. Sam and Agnes are buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.

The presentation ceremony proclaiming their affiliation took place in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 30, 2013.
Wayne Wieczorek AFSC
Wayne Wieczorek was granted a Diploma of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother John Joseph Johnston, and his Council in Rome on August 28, 1997. Brother Wieczorek had been a Christian Brother for a number of years and was recommended for readmission to the Institute as an AFSC by the Brothers of St. Louis, Missouri. Brother Wayne Wieczorek died on January 20, 2000. In a special dedication ceremony on December 15, 2001, his ashes were placed in the grotto at Calvary Cemetery in Glencoe, Missouri.

John R. Albers received a Diploma of Affiliation from the Superior General, Brother John Joseph Johnston, and his Council in Rome on August 13, 1996. He was recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of St. Paul, Minnesota. John Albers died on October 9, 2008.

Burton J. McGlynn was granted Diplomas of Affiliation by the Superior General, Brother John Joseph Johnston, and his Council in Rome on August 16, 1996. He was recommended for admission to the Institute by the Brothers of St. Paul, Minnesota. Burton McGlynn died on December 23, 2011.
