Do I believe in the Resurrection? Absolutely! It exists in Jesus' birth — having been laid in a feeding trough as food for the world.
It runs through his entire life, witnessing the love of the reign of God and demonstrating what it will look like. It culminates in his death — that self-sacrifice that shows what selfless love means, and departing again as food for the world: take this bread and eat of it. It is in his birth, life, and death that we witness the Resurrection. Throughout, He shows us what resurrection looks like. It is the ultimate power of love to conquer even death — even the humiliating death of an innocent man hung naked for the world to see.
I see the reality of resurrection every time I see someone feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give drink to the thirsty, care for the sick, visit the imprisoned, shelter the homeless. It is in the uncompromising love that gives when nothing is being returned. It is in the power of love to transform life from darkness to light.
The Resurrection is real and we have been called to live it every day. Let us pray for the desire, the courage, and the commitment to embrace that call.
