His family emigrated to the United States and he was employed as a bricklayer who arrived in San Francisco with the earthquake of 1906. He met the Brothers and sought admission to the Novitiate at Martinez where he entered on June 26, 1908, at age twenty-five. He became an eminent professor of biology and mathematics and his teaching assignments included six years in Australia as well as in various schools on the West Coast. In 1942, after a surgical operation, he was unable to resume his ordinary activities and a mental decline ensued. In November of 1949 he entered the Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He resided there until his death in August of 1957 at the age of seventy-four, having been a De La Salle Christian Brothers for forty-nine years.
