Br. Lucidius Henry

Richard Andrew Power was born the son of Thomas A. and Emma Woock Power, in Duluth, Minnesota, on October 26, 1927. He entered the Juniorate in Glencoe from Cathedral High School in Duluth on January 21, 1942, and graduated to the Novitiate there on June 15, 1945. He received the name of Brother Lucidius Henry and completed his Scholasticate work at St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, on June of 1949. That same year he began his tour of duty which included: De La Salle High School in Kansas City from 1949 to 1952; De La Salle High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from 1952 to 1954, 1979 to 1980 as Principal, and again from 1987 to 1989 as Assistant Principal; Holy Name High School in Escanaba, Michigan, from 1958 to 1961; St. Mary's College in Winona from 1958 to 1961; Christian Brothers High School in St. Louis, Missouri, from 1961 to 1963; C.B. Retreat Center at Dunrovin from 1963 to 1966 and 1981 to 1982 as Director; La Salle High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 1966 to 1970; Director of Education, Diocese of Marquette, Michigan, 1976 to 1979 and D.R.E. at St. Anne Parish in Escanaba from 1980 to 1981; Shanley High School in Fargo, North Dakota, from 1985 to 1987; and St. Bonaventure Indian Mission in Thoreau, New Mexico, in 1989. Brother Henry retired to Cretin-Hamline Community in St. Paul in 1990 and died there in his sleep at age sixty-four, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for forty-nine years.
