Br. Liguori Francis

Francis Albachten was born on April 14, 1901 in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Adolph and Georgine Cadieux Albachten. Francis was a student at the Brothers' school, Cathedral High School, in Duluth and entered the Juniorate at age fifteen, on August 16, 1916. He advanced a year later to the Novitiate in July of 1917 where he received the habit and the religious name of Brother Liguori Francis. His first teaching assignment was to St. Mel's in Chicago, Illinois, in 1919 but later that year he was assigned to St. Alphonsus Rock Church School in St. Louis. He received his M.A. degree from De Paul University and in 1920 he was assigned to Rochester, Minnesota, and in 1921 to St. Patrick's High School in Chicago. In 1927 he was assigned to Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, where he became the Director in 1930. Shortly after school opened that year he had an attack of appendicitis and developing complications caused his death a few days later at age twenty-nine, having been a De la Salle Christian Brother for fourteen years.
