Francis Henrichs was born the son of John and Mary Miesz Heinrich on December 30, 1888, at Hartman's Station in Johnson City, Arkansas. He entered from Saint Vincent's German Orphan Home into the Juniorate at age fifteen in Glencoe on June 4, 1903, and the Novitiate there on January 2, 1905, where he received the habit and the religious name of John of Matha. He completed his Scholasticate training and was sent in February of 1906 to St. Bridget's School in St. Louis, Missouri, for his practice teaching experience. He was taken ill and died at age of eighteen, having been a De la Salle Christian Brother for only five years.
