Born on January 7, 1945, the son of George Mirko and Agnes Cecilia Kam Simon, in Margarita, Panama Canal Zone, George Simon, attended the Colegia San Jose at Colone, Republic of Panama. He entered the Novitiate at Glencoe in February 1962 where he received the religious name of Brother John George. He graduated from Christian Brothers College in Memphis and began teaching at Helias High School in Jefferson City, Missouri. In August of 1966 he was transferred to De La Salle High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He died in a car accident near Auburn, Nebraska, with Brother David Darst. Brother George was twenty-four years old, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for seven years.
