Br. Clement Peter

John Fisher was born in Kurtschied, Prussia, on January 29, 1839, the son of Anton and Catherine Boden Fisher. He emigrated to the United States and at age thirty-four entered the Novitiate at Carondelet, Missouri, in May of 1873. He received the robe and religious name of Brother Clement Peter and one year later was assigned to Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tennessee. He was then assigned to St. Patrick's in St. Louis, Missouri, and then to Carondelet for a period of time. In 1884 he was assigned to Christian Brothers College on Cerre Street. On October 5, 1916, a fire broke out in the infirmary and Brother Clement Peter was killed in the fire. He was seventy-seven years old and had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for forty-three years.
