Br. Bernard Maurice

Maurice Louis Touvey was born at Poissy, Versailles, France, on October 11, 1879, and entered the Novitiate in 1898 at age nineteen. His first teaching assignment took him to his former School of St. Peter. When the government of France closed the schools, Brother Bernard Maurice came to the United States to Bernalillo where he taught from 1905 to 1907. A cold deteriorated into tuberculosis and he returned to France where he died in 1907 at the age of twenty-eight, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for nine years.
