Br. Bardomian

George Labrecque was born on January 25, 1835, the son of Charles and Marie Louise Coulombe Labrecque, in Saint Lawrence, Canada. He entered the Novitiate at Montreal in 1854 where he received the robe and the religious name of Brother Bardomian. His tour of duty took him to New York, Saint Louis, Chicago and Philadelphia, where he served as professor, inspector, econome, tailor, and where he distinguished himself with his musical talents in conducting choirs. Eye problems caused him to leave teaching to take charge of the temporal needs of the communities where he served. In 1906 his health sent him to the Community of Ancients at Ammendale where he died at age seventy-one, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for fifty-two years.
