Arthur Dickerson was born on October 13, 1949, the son of Artsman and Anna Mae Trauth Dickerson. A 1966 graduate of Newport Catholic High School in Newport, Kentucky, Arthur attended Villa Madonna College for one year before entering the Glencoe Novitiate on August 8, 1967. He completed his undergradu­ate studies at Christian Brothers College with a B.A. in Theology. His first teaching assignment was at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Missouri, where he served from 1971 to 1973. His second, and longest assignment, in 1973 brought him to Memphis, Tennessee, where he taught at Christian Brothers High School for the next six years. He made his perpetual vows while there in 1975. In 1978 he was transferred to his alma mater, Newport Catholic High School, to teach. He suffered from depression and took his life in September of that same year at age twenty-nine, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for eleven years.
