Patrick Flynn was born in Waterford, Ireland, on March 15, 1837. He made his Novitiate in Montreal, Canada, and there received the religious name of Brother Arsenian. He taught in Utica, New York, Baltimore, Maryland, and at Christian Brothers College in 1865-1866, in St. Louis, Missouri. The following year he was assigned to the College in Pass Christian, Mississippi, where he contracted yellow fever and died at the age of thirty, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for fifteen years.
