Brother William entered religious life at age twenty-four in London, England, and was sent to Paris, France for his Novitiate.  After teaching in various schools in London and Paris he was sent to the United States where he taught in Baltimore and New York.  He became Director of St. Patrick High School community in Chicago in 1870 and in 1871 he taught at the boarding school at Pass Christian, Mississippi. A year later we find him teaching at St. Mary's College in New Orleans.  In 1873 Brother William was assigned to teach at CBC, St. Louis and in 1876 he was off to the boarding school at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  In 1879 he returned to St. Louis, Missouri, where he was to be assigned over the next few years to St. Patrick's, St. Bridget's and Christian Brothers College.  In 1881 he traveled to St. Paul to teach at Cathedral School and in 1882 he was Director of the community in Dubuque, Iowa.  In September of that same year he returned to St. Louis, Missouri, where he remained until his death six years later on January 18, 1888, at age fifty-sixth in his thirtieth year as a De La Salle Christian Brother.
