Br.Timothy of Jesus

Brother Timothy of Jesus was born in Nazareth, Brazil, South America, the son of Frank and Anna Seibel Gaier.  His family moved to Canada where he joined the Novitiate at Montreal on May 31, 1857.  He received the habit in October of that same year and arrived two months later for his first assignment at Christian Brothers High School in St. Louis, Missouri.  He moved to St. Vincent's elementary school where he taught until he became a victim of pulmonary tuberculosis, more commonly called "consumption", and died on February 4, 1864.  He was buried in St. Louis but later his body was moved to the crypt at Calvary Cemetery at La Salle Institute in Glencoe, Missouri.  He was only thirty-two years old and in his seventh year as a De La Salle Christian Brother.
