He designed the self-study which produced the first North Central Association accreditation for the college. Brother Louis de La Salle was one of four sons of Peter and Clara Seiler to become De La Salle Christian Brothers. Three of his younger brothers, Brother Joel Adrian (deceased, 1957), Brother Peter (deceased 1956) and Brother Leo Wilfrid also were De La Salle Christian Brothers and his mother, Clara Seiler, was an affiliated member of the Institute. Brother Louis was widely published in a variety of professional journals, served as President of the Christian Brothers Education Association, and received numerous honors and distinctions during his outstanding career of thirty-four years in college work. He died suddenly of a heart attack on January 18, 1972, at age sixty-two and in his forty-fourth year as a De La Salle Christian Brother.
