His teaching career was to include St. George High School, St. Mel High School, St. Patrick High School, St. Francis High School and St. Joseph High School in the Chicago metro area. Brother Arthur also became a missionary to the Philippine Islands immediately after World War II, serving there for four years. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, and continued his graduate work at St. Louis University, the University of Minnesota and St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota. Brother Jeremiah Arthur came from a family of three religious. His brother, Brother Lawrence Paul, also a De La Salle Christian Brother, died in 1954 and his sister was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Although he was officially retired at the time of his death, he remained active as a counselor in the guidance department at De La Salle High School and died at age sixty-seven at the beginning of his fiftieth jubilee year as a De La Salle Christian Brother.
