Brother Anselm received his B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota and his M.S. degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, with later graduate work at the University of Notre Dame at South Bend. His teaching career began in 1916 and spanned forty-eight years to include assignments in Missouri at Christian Brothers College in St. Louis and Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph; in Minnesota at Cathedral High School in Duluth, De La Salle High School in Minneapolis, and Cretin High School in St. Paul; in Illinois at St. Patrick High School, St. Mel High School and De La Salle High School. Brother Anselm was one of the Brothers who survived the "great fire" at Christian Brothers College in St. Louis in 1916. He retired to La Salle Manor in Plano, Illinois, in 1964 and remained working there until his death in 1976 at age seventy-eight in his sixty-second year as a De La Salle Christian Brother.
