Br. Hermes George

Ronald Edward Wagner was born the son of John George and Mary Marks Wagner, on August 20, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois. When he was old enough he enrolled in St. Patrick Academy at Adams and Desplaines in Chicago. Upon graduation he entered the Novitiate on June 15, 1951 in Glencoe, Missouri, where he received the habit and the religious name of Brother Hermes George. He completed his scholastic training with a B.A. degree at St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, in 1956 and was assigned to teach at St. Mel High School in Chicago. Brother George remained there for ten years, teaching Religion, English, Math and Music. He employed these same skills in 1966 when he was assigned to St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois. He died unexpectedly there at age forty-eight of a sudden heart attack, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for thirty years.
