Br. Henry Stephen

Brother Henry Stephen entered the Juniorate in June of 1917 in Glencoe, Missouri, and advanced to the Novitiate in June of 1919. Upon completion of his Scholasticate training in August of 1921 he was assigned to St. Mel High School in Chicago, Illinois, the first of three times he was to be assigned to this school. He also served in Illinois at St. George High School in Evanston and St. Patrick High School in Chicago. In Minnesota he taught at Cretin High School in St. Paul, and De La Salle High School in Minneapolis as well as Benilde High School at St. Louis Park, Minnesota. His career brought him to Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, Christian Brothers High School in St. Louis, Missouri, and to teach for one year at Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tennessee. He received his undergraduate degree from DePaul University in Chicago and continued his graduate studies at the University of Missouri at Columbia, DePaul University in Chicago and St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota. He died at age sixty-six, in his fifty-first year as a De La Salle Christian Brother and was well remembered not only as an outstanding teacher but for his interest in student athletics and photography.
