Br. Frogeneus

Paul Brauch was born the son of George and Catherine Margaret Schorg-Brauch on May 29, 1845, in Didelsheim, Mostback, in Baden, Prussia. He emigrated to the United States and eventually, at age twenty-four, entered the Novitiate at Carondelet, Missouri, on February 1, 1869, where he received the robe and the religious name of Brother Frogeneus. His first teaching assignment took him to the elementary classes at the school in Detroit in 1870. Eleven years later, he was assigned at Second Street in New York where he taught and served as infirmarian. In the autumn of 1905 incurable cancer was found and Brother Frogeneus was assigned to the infirmary at Ammendale where he died at the age of sixty, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for thirty-six years.
