Br. Florence of Mary

Michael Glynn was born in County Clare, Ireland, on September 18, 1842. He emigrated to the United States and at age thirty, entered the Novitiate at Carondelet, Missouri. There he received the habit and religious name of Brother Florence of Mary on October 31, 1872. He served as a teacher from 1873 to 1875 in St. Joseph, Missouri, and in 1876 at St. Patrick's in St. Louis, Missouri. He served as a working Brother the remainder of his tour of duty at: Glencoe Orphanage, Glencoe, Missouri; Bridgeport Orphanage, Chicago, Illinois; the Novitiate at Carondelet, Missouri; Feehanville Orphanage, Illinois; and in Bernalillo, New Mexico. In 1902 he went to serve in Ireland but four years later he returned to Glencoe and then to Bernalillo where he died at age seventy-two, having been a De la Salle Christian Brother for forty-two years.
