Brother Fidelian taught frequently throughout the midwestern states. In St. Louis, Missouri, he devoted years of teaching service to St. Patrick's, St. Vincent's, St. Bridget's and Christian Brothers High School. In Chicago, Illinois, he taught at St. Patrick's, St. John's, and De La Salle High Schools. In 1899 and again in 1906 he came to Memphis, Tennessee, to teach at Christian Brothers College. During the last six years of his life he was charged with the position of bursar of De La Salle Institute in Chicago, Illinois, and suffered during this time from heart and stomach problems. In January of 1911 he was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in Chicago for surgery. Aware of the risks of the operation, he made the necessary preparations beforehand, praying and taking communion. He died on January 13th. M. le Cure of the parish of St. John, and many other members of the clergy, attended the funeral Mass. A large group of people followed the procession to the train station where his body was transported to Glencoe, Missouri, for burial. He died at age sixty-five and in his forty-seventh year as a De La Salle Christian Brother.
