Patrick  Foley was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, in 1835, and made his  Novitiate in Montreal, in 1854.  There  he received the habit and religious name of Brother Emilian of Jesus.  His tour of duty took him to Troy, New York  City, St. Louis, Detroit, and Albany, where he died at age thirty-four.  Brother Emilian had been a De La Salle  Christian Brother for fifteen years.
