Brother Dacian's first assignment was in St. Louis, Missouri in 1857.  A year later he traveled to St. Mary's Academy in New Orleans where he was to serve the community as their cook.  In 1861 he was transferred to the Brothers' Community in Detroit where he remained until 1883 when he left for Amawalk, New York where he served as econome.  He died at Amawalk at age sixty-six and in his forty-third year as a De la Salle Christian Brother.
