Lasallian Youth

Who are Lasallian Youth?

Lasallian Youth are high school students seeking an understanding of themselves and the world. They search for understanding through activities of faith, service, and community. They are interested in learning about justice and discovering the reasons for so much injustice in the world around them. Lasallian Youth understand that self-discovery and self-understanding begin in a community of acceptance. It grows in service to others and flowers in the light of faith.

“As I reflect on the experience of working with the young people of the Lasallian Youth movement in our country, I hold two things to be true:

First, the Lasallian Youth movement is a movement which belongs primarily to the young people themselves. While the adults who are involved have an important role to play as companions to these young people, it is the youth of Lasallian Youth who are primarily responsible for shaping the movement. We adults are invited to see the Spirit working in and through them, and to respond faithfully and gratefully.

Secondly, the Lasallian Youth movement, like other religious orders, is part of a new reality which is emerging in the Church and which, I believe, is engendered by the Spirit. This reality is marked by an affirmation of our common baptismal vocation as followers of Jesus and ministers of the Gospel, and a sharing of the unique gifts of both lay and religious for the good of the entire community.”
