Robert Dolan was born on October 29, 1923, the son of Aloysius and Verda Hense Dolan, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was one of six children and attended Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis before entering the Juniorate at Glencoe. On August 30, 1941, he received the habit of the Brothers and the religious name of Lewis Gonzaga, which was changed later to Kevin Aloysius when it was discovered that there was a Brother Lewis Gonzaga in the Philippines. He entered the Scholasticate at St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, in 1942 and completed his B.S.S. degree in 1945. His first teaching assignment was at St. Mel High School in Chicago, Illinois. One year later in 1946 he moved to St. Patrick's High School in Chicago and one year later again he moved to Cretin High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1948 he returned to St. Pat's and remained there until 1951 when he was assigned to St. George High School in Evanston, Illinois. In 1955 he came home to St. Louis for his first of three assignments to Christian Brothers High School (1955-1964, 1980-1986, 1987-1998). He served at Bishop Noll High School in 1964 in Hammond, Indiana, and in 1965 at Bergan High School in Peoria, Illinois. Brother Aloysius was assigned to De La Salle High School in Kansas City in 1966 and Director at Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1967. He was appointed Director of Scholastics in 1969 in Memphis, Tennessee, and was assigned as Director General at La Salle Institute in Glencoe, Missouri, from 1970-1977. In 1977 Brother Aloysius was assigned to O'Hara High School in Kansas City and in 1980 to Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis where he retired in 1987. "Ollie", as he was affectionately called by his Brothers, died of cancer on October 1, 1998, in the Christian Brothers College High School Community and in his beloved home of St. Louis. He was seventy-five years of age and had been a De la Salle Christian Brother for fifty-seven years.
