Born in Tipperary, Ireland on December 15, 1859, John Maloney, at age twenty-three he entered the Novitiate at Castletown, Ireland. He volunteered for the missions in the United States and completed his novitiate at Carondelet in St. Louis, Missouri. His tour of assignments includes St. Joseph's Orphanage at Glencoe, Missouri; the orphanage at Feehanville, teaching classes at St. Mary's Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana; St. Mary's in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and duties as econome at Christian Brothers College in St. Louis, Missouri; and at Christian Brothers College in St. Joseph, Missouri. He retired to the Community of Ancients in Glencoe, Missouri, where he died at the age of seventy-five, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for fifty-two years.
