Br. Joachim Michael
John James Patrick Walsh was born the son of James John and Catherine Leamy Walsh on January 18, 1914, in Chicago, Illinois. John entered the novitiate at Glencoe and received the robe and the religious name of Brother Joachim Michael on April 1, 1934. He completed his Scholasticate training and was assigned to teach at Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tennessee. His tour of duty included De La Salle High School in Chicago 1940-42; St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, 1942-44; De La Salle Academy in Kansas City, Missouri, 1944-49; St. Mel's High School in Chicago, 1949-51; Cotter High School in Winona, 1951-52; St. Patrick's High School in Chicago, 1952-55; Grace Memorial High School in Bakersfield, California; and Price Memorial High School in Amarillo, Texas, in 1955-56; St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe and Cathedral High School in El Paso 1966-68; Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento 1970-71; and San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, 1974-79. He died in the retirement community at Mont La Salle at age eighty, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for sixty years.
