Jerome Joseph Martin was born on January 27, 1914, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Thomas C. and Margaret Twomey Martin. He attended Cretin High School in St. Paul and entered the Juniorate from there on October 26, 1927. In June of 1931 he entered the Novitiate, received the habit and the religious name of Brother Jerome Fabian. He received his B.S.S. from Loyola University in Chicago in 1935 and began teaching at De La Salle High School in Kansas City, Missouri, that same year. His tour of duty included: C.B.H.S. in St. Joseph, Missouri, 1940-1947; St. Mary's College, Winona, Minnesota, 1947-1948; La Salle Institute in Glencoe, 1948-1950; St. George High School in Evanston, Illinois, 1950-1960; St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois, 1960-1962, 1976-1984, and 1963-1968; C.B.H.S. in Quincy, Illinois, 1962-1963; Cretin High School, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Holy Name High School in Escanaba, Michigan, 1968-1969; Bishop Gallagher High School, Harper Woods, Michigan, 1969-1970; De La Salle High School in Chicago, Illinois, 1970-1971; St. Patrick's High School in Chicago, 1971-1975; and Central Catholic High School in Muskegon, Michigan 1975-76. He earned his M.A. from DePaul University in 1959 and taught English and Math as well as serving as Librarian. He retired at C.B. Center in Romeoville in 1985 but served at Gallagher High School and Roncalli Community from 1986 to 1996, when he retired for a second time. He died at age eighty-five, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for seventy-two years.
