In 1948 he was assigned at St. Patrick High School in Chicago, Illinois, and in 1949 he taught at De La Salle Institute in the same city. Brother Imilian George served three more times at St. Patrick High School, 1956-66, 1977-88, 1989-1992, for a total of twenty-four years there. From 1951 to 1955 he taught at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Missouri. An injury to his hand in his youth brought him the nickname "three fingers George." He completed his M.S. degree from DePaul University in Chicago in 1954. He came to Cretin High School in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1955 and to Catholic Central in Muskegon, Minnesota, in 1966. He was seventy-four years old and had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for fifty-six years.
