Br. Dorotheus
Augustin Painchaud was born in 1821 in Canada and entered the Montreal Novitiate at age twenty-three in 1844. He was named Director of the Novitiate at the Cathedral School and was one of the founding Brothers at Christian Brothers College at 8th and Cerre Streets in St. Louis, Missouri. Brother Dorotheus is listed as one of the incorporators of Christian Brothers College in St. Louis, when the charter was granted in 1855. He died of a brain tumor in 1863 at age forty-two, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for nineteen years.
