Henry Augustin was born the son of Ernest and Marguerite Sainteff Augustin on July 10, 1841 in Albany, New York. He was admitted to the Institute Novitiate at Montreal in December of 1857 and received the habit and religious name of Brother Davy in March of 1858. His assignments took him to: Montreal in 1858, Manhattanville, New York, in 1959, Carondelet in 1860 and St. John in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1862, to St. Joseph in 1870 and New Orleans in 1874, to Carondelet at St. Marie in 1877 and Christian Brothers College, St. Louis in 1878, to Mora, New Mexico, in 1878 and Feehanville in 1883 to St. Louis at St. Bridget's and St. Malachy in 1873-4, to St. John's in Chicago in 1886 and to Memphis later that same year, to Santa Fe in 1888 and to CBC St. Louis again in 1895, to New York and Cuba later in 1895 and to Second Street in New York in 1896, to Memphis in 1896 and to De La Salle in Chicago in 1897, to Memphis in 1897 also and to Glencoe in 1899 before going to Bernalillo. He returned to Glencoe in 1918 and died there a year later at the age of seventy-eight, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for sixty-two years.
