Michael Doyle was born in Ireland but emigrated to the United States at the age of twenty-seven. He sought entrance into religious life and Brother Facile sent him to the Novitiate at Montreal where in 1863 he received the habit of the Brothers and the religious name of Brother Cormac. Upon completing his year there he taught at Holy Infant School and Manhattan in New York City. In 1860 he was assigned to St. Louis, Missouri, where he taught at Cathedral School and at St. Patrick's School. In 1871 he became econome at Christian Brothers College on Cerre Street and in 1906 he was given charge of the museum at CBC. On October 5, 1916, a fire broke out near the infirmary at the College which took the life of Brother Cormac and Brother Clement Peter. He died at age ninety, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for sixty-three years.
