Br. Basilew Francis
Born in Ireland, Robert Foley emigrated to the United States and at the age of twenty-one entered the Novitiate at Christian Brothers College in Pass Christian, Mississippi. There he received the robe and the religious name of Brother Basilew Francis. In 1865 he was assigned to teach at the college and two years later succumbed to the yellow fever and died there at age twenty-eight, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for only three years.
