Louis Valentine Noel Bression was born on December 13, 1862, in Chateau-Thierry, France. In 1878 he sought admission to the Novitiate at Thillois-les-Reim. After being Brother Visitor of Reims for one year he was elected Assistant to the Superior General, a position he held for twenty years. At the death of Brother Junien Victor in 1940, the war made a General Chapter and election of a new Superior General impossible. Pope Pius XII appointed Brother Arese Casimir, Vicar General. At the election of Brother Athanase Emile in 1946, Brother Arese retired to the Mother House in Rome where he died at age ninety-two, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for seventy-six years.
