Br. Amedy Patrick
James Kenny was born the son of James and Ellen Richards Kenny in Wexford, Ireland, on July 24, 1844. At age twenty, James entered the Novitiate in New York where he received the habit of the Brother and the religious name of Brother Amedy Patrick. He was assigned to teach at St. Patrick's in St. Louis and was Sub-Director of Novices at Carondelet, Missouri. Suffering from poor health in August of 1867 he was sent to Jefferson Parish, New Orleans, where he died of tuberculosis at age twenty-three, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for only three years.
